10) Quebec Government issues regulation that all children register in LaPlace0-5.

The goal of the centralized waiting list, "LaPlace 0-5" is to assure that all children living in Quebec are given an equal opportunity to have a spot in a daycare.

It is very important to register your newborn in the centralized waiting list regardless of when you actually plan on sending him/her. Registration of new children will only be done through this system. Continue reading here.

11) We're all familiar with emails from our contacts asking us to open an "important document". These phishing emails, however, are becoming more and more indistinguishable from authentic messages. In one such case, MAI received an email from one of Paypal's email accounts asking them to sign into their own account and submit some important tax info. required by IRS. The email included a button to log into our account. The bottom line is: be wary of emails leading us to a log on page or other webform asking us for sensitive data. When in doubt, browse for the log on page of your bank, Paypal et al manually.

12) On a similar note, the Montreal Gazette published an article the other day about "grandparent scams" in Montreal. The point is to be ever wary and alert. f you suspect that you might be or were a target of fraud, you may report the incident to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre as outlined on their website.
